This character was originally introduced in the franchise reboot, in the game Mortal Kombat 9, released in 2011 and is back in Mortal Kombat XL. Shinnok is a character that can only be unlocked at the end of Story / Image Mode: Disclosure Cyber Sub-Zero Doing so will unlock the character's base skin, as the corrupted version of Shinnok is not available for selection in the Mortal Kombat XL character menu.
